Assignment 2A: Bug List

Things that bug me in everyday life,

1. Every time I cook, food odor seeps into my walls and furniture. So I have to open the door and windows to ventilate.
Why it exists - kitchen air vent can only suck up so much smoke, the vent does not get rid of 100% of smells.

2. When bad drivers almost cause an accident.
- because Gainesville is a university town, there are a lot of young and inexperienced student drivers in town.

3. When people don't clean up after their dog waste.
- because some pet owners know there are no consequences for not picking up after their dog.

4. When I forget to bring water for my dog when we go to a park.
- it's an easy item forget to pack before leaving the house.

5. There are many mosquitos in Gainesville.
- because there are a lot of wetlands and swampy areas, mosquitos thrive in these environments.

6. When I'm expecting a USPS parcel, but you don't know what time of the day it will arrive.
- because USPS only provides the expected delivery time by date.

7. When you use the apartment laundry facility, I'm not sure if anyone cleans the machines periodically.
- because people have no clue if the management company cleans it or not.

8. People who flick cigarettes out the car window when they drive
 - because those drivers do not care about the planet or the car behind them.

9. When credit card or insurance companies keep sending promotional mail.
- because I don't know how to tell those companies to stop sending me mail.

10. When airport food is overpriced and tastes mediocre.
- because airport vendors know they can raise their price because, in an airport setting, most of the vendors are monopolizing certain items such as water and food.

11. Not having enough personal space in an airplane cabin during a long hour flight.
- because airliners know smaller the seats are, the better they can accommodate more passengers. In return, they make more profit.

12. When you receive bad service from a restaurant server, but still feel pressured to give decent tips.
- because if you give bad tips, I worry about getting judged by the server.

13. That Reitz Union food court doesn't have many options when it comes to vendors.
- because there are only limited spaces to bring in new vendors

14. When university parking decal signs are very confusing for non-decals to use.
- because the campus has very limited parking spaces, it needs to enforce strict parking rules.

15. When my long hair strands constantly fall on the floor, everywhere, all the time.
-because my hair is long and it's inevitable to maintain loose hair

16. When I go into the fitness studios of SW rec center, room ventilation isn't working great and you can smell people's sweat and odors.
- because the rec center reps cannot recognize the issue or simply does not have much thought into it.

17. When I accidentally make a stain on my clothes outside of the home.
- because people make this mistake and I'm too lazy to carry a 'tide to go' pen everywhere I go.

18. When you are trying to get to a particular shop at a mall that you are not familiar with and you are trying to find the nearest entrance to park your car.
- because google maps do not offer this service yet.

19. When you shop at Walmart in Butler Plaza, almost always there isn't enough cashier station opened and people end up waiting for a while to check out.
- because this particular Walmart may not have enough staff to open more check out stand.

20. When my bank imposes overdraft fee rather than stating low fund.
- because my bank charges their clients to put overdraft prevention option.

Reflection:

Personally, I didn't have any difficulty coming up with the list of things that bugs me at all. Finding ways that improve my everyday life is important to me, because when I tackle these issues that bug me, the quality of my life raises, thus, I can live more struggle free life and I can focus on important things in life rather than being annoyed by little problems. It was harder for me to find out why the bugs exist rather than why it bugs me. This allowed me to think about the issues in depth and how I can tackle them.

  1. Hey Byung!

I have the same problem with the food smell, I’m pretty sure my apartment has ventilation issues, I recommend lighting some scented candles after cooking or keeping a febreeze bottle handy. I cut my hair like a month ago after growing it out for almost two years, one of the things I don’t miss about it is the staggering amount of hair strands that were all over my apartment. The last bug that I found relatable was the one about Walmart's lack of cashiers, I don’t get it. Why have 20 or more cash registers if only a few are open, even when the store is packed!

    Great post!

  2. Hey Lisa!
I really enjoyed reading your blog! I included a few of the same things you included in your blogpost as well. Opposite of you, I had a-lot of difficulty trying to find things to come up with in my bug list because I had to go back and think about specific events. Doing this assignment helped me realize what entrepreneurs go through when they are brainstorming ideas.

  3. Your first bug about food odor is so relatable, along with having hair strands everywhere! I also wrote about parking on campus, as I am sure it bugs most people that attend UF. I find your bug about cigarettes thrown out of windows the most infuriating, as I read countless times that it one of the most, if not the most, littered thing on Earth. One of my biggest pet peeve is people that litter.
